Why is Come Over When You’re Sober Pt. 2  Heartbreaking?

Dale Varner

The album Come Over When You’re Sober Pt. 2 is the final, fully-developed album by artist Lil Peep. Billboard Music Charts states that Lil Peep as an artist has been growing in popularity among many’s playlists following his death on November 15, 2017 from a drug overdose. According to Gamboa’s November 8th article in Newsday, Peep’s death came as “a sense of loss because it shows how close Lil Peep was to becoming a major hip-hop star”.

This new album shows his struggles and thoughts of how he will end up as a person. For example, Peep knew how his lifestyle would lead  and saw his life optimistically. He then later started to decline in his mood and mental status within his work. Peep’s song “Life is Beautiful,” can show this decline, “which starts out optimistic, then gradually turns darker. When he sings, “I think I’mma die alone inside my room,” Gamboa points out that Peep shows how he has been on a rough decline with drug use and depression issues. These issues in Peep’s life lead him to lean towards heavy drug use consisting of Xanax and Fentanyl from Heroin. These drugs caused him to show his own fate of dying alone in his room. He was found dead on November 17th, 2017 from overdosing on those said drugs.

Many can relate to the sadness felt from his music and the decline and incline of life’s direction. This is what makes Lil Peep’s new album such a success in the music industry.
